The most important relationship in our lives is the one we have with ourselves. If it doesn’t work, everything starts to falter: partnerships, careers, friendships, success. I see this time and time again – and I know it myself. For a long time, I worked, delivered, showed strength. Stable on the outside, increasingly empty on the inside. At some point, life gets in the way: Exhaustion, conflicts, physical warning signals. I went through ups and downs – right up to a heart attack. By then it was clear that things couldn’t go on like this.

Many men suppress what is happening inside them. They persevere, organize, steer, are “crisis-proof” – and have long since reached their limit. They build a façade that looks good, while chaos reigns inside. Not because they are weak, but because they learned early on: Feelings get in the way. Carry on, pull themselves together, function. And that’s exactly what breaks down relationships, eats up closeness – and at some point lets the body speak louder than the head.

From this path, I have developed a model: the new emotional intelligence for men. A pragmatic approach that fits today’s reality – pressure to perform, role models, inner separation and at the same time the longing for connection, clarity and real strength. For me, emotional intelligence does not mean “becoming soft” or self-optimization. It means taking responsibility – first and foremost for your own inner life.

No more excuses, numbing and hiding behind status, work, constant stress, distraction or porn. If you really look, you will find what you have been pushing away for a long time: Anger. Grief. Buried lust. And a longing for closeness that is hardly allowed anymore. It’s uncomfortable – but that’s where freedom begins. Feelings are not the problem. The fight against them is.

Crises and conflicts are rarely a coincidence. They are usually a reflection of unresolved issues: Where have I abandoned myself? Where do I bend myself? Where am I functioning instead of being effective? When we learn to read these signals, orientation is created – not through more control, but through clarity and honesty.

In the end, it’s about being at peace with yourself again. Not softened, not in a new role, but as a man who can look himself in the eye. This results in stability: relationships become more stable, decisions clearer, boundaries healthier. And above all: an inner strength that does not come from pressure, but from connection with yourself.
