I would like to share my story with you. Perhaps you will recognize yourself in some parts. My path was anything but straightforward. From management consultant to managing director to headhunter – this path was characterized by major turning points and deep insights. <\/p>\n\n

In my twenties, I pursued a stellar career in management consulting. At the age of 29, I was a member of the management board of a renowned company. But behind the shiny facade lay a bitter truth. My body was sending me clear signals, which I ignored for a long time until I had a breakdown – burnout. I had to pull the emergency brake and end my career abruptly. <\/p>\n\n
My next attempt to be successful as a managing director failed again at the same hurdle. The realization hit me hard: an external career without internal development is not sustainable. <\/p>\n\n

After a few failures, I decided to go into headhunting. This decision was not easy, because the image I had of headhunters was anything but positive. But necessity is the mother of invention, and so I developed my own method of headhunting, which made me successful and enabled me to find my true calling. <\/p>\n\n
<\/p>\n\n
A self-determined life is the key to satisfaction. It means making decisions that are not motivated by external expectations but by inner convictions. The inside-outside principle plays a central role here. Problems on the outside are often just reflections of our inner world. If we process and understand this inner world, we can also better master external challenges. <\/p>\n\n
<\/p>\n\n
Self-reflection: regularly take time to listen to yourself. Ask yourself what really moves you and where your true needs lie. <\/p>\n\n
Set priorities: Be clear about what is important to you and put this at the forefront of your decisions.<\/p>\n\n
Courage to change: Big changes start with a small decision. Dare to take the first step, even if the path is uncertain. <\/p>\n\n
Learn to say no: Don’t take on the expectations of others. Your path is unique and it’s okay to say no when something doesn’t suit you. <\/p>\n\n

Each of us has the opportunity to lead a self-determined life. It requires courage, determination and the willingness to question yourself honestly. My journey shows that you too can master your inner and outer challenges. Take the first step and realize that a fulfilling, self-determined life is within everyone’s reach.
