{"id":5948,"date":"2026-06-17T10:04:16","date_gmt":"2026-06-17T10:04:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/frankrechsteiner.de\/why-do-we-let-others-treat-us-badly\/"},"modified":"2026-06-17T10:05:57","modified_gmt":"2026-06-17T10:05:57","slug":"why-do-we-let-others-treat-us-badly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/frankrechsteiner.de\/en\/why-do-we-let-others-treat-us-badly\/","title":{"rendered":"Why do we let others treat us badly?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the new episode of <em>*Men in Crisis*<\/em>, we talk about a pattern that many of us are familiar with: Someone treats us disrespectfully, ignores us, or doesn\u2019t take us seriously, and instead of addressing it, we find reasons why that behavior is somehow understandable.<br\/><br\/>\u201cHe\u2019s just under a lot of stress right now.\u201d \u201cI\u2019m sure he doesn\u2019t mean it that way.\u201d \u201cMy boss is just incredibly busy.\u201d We often find excuses more quickly than we find the courage to honestly express how the other person\u2019s behavior makes us feel. <br\/><br\/>Yet the real problem often isn&#8217;t the other person, but rather our desire to avoid conflict. We hope that things will resolve themselves instead of standing up for ourselves. We keep waiting, even though a direct conversation is long overdue.  <br\/><br\/>We\u2019ll discuss why low self-esteem and an aversion to conflict often prevent us from setting clear boundaries. And why relationships, collaboration, and communication usually only change once we\u2019re ready to openly express what hurts, frustrates, or weighs on us. <br\/><br\/>Perhaps that is precisely where the uncomfortable truth lies: People often don&#8217;t treat you badly because they want to.
