In the new episode of Men in Crisis, we talk about a word that everyone knows but that many still find incredibly difficult to say: “No.”
Most of us don’t say “yes” because we really want something. We say “yes” because we don’t want to disappoint anyone. Because we want to be liked. Because we’re afraid of rejection. So we go to events, meet people, take on tasks, or stay in situations that haven’t felt right for a long time.
The problem is this: Every time you say yes to something you don’t really want, it comes at a cost. Sometimes it costs you time. Sometimes energy. Sometimes self-respect. And sometimes it leads you to live a life that drifts further and further away from what you actually want.
We’ll talk about why so many men find it so hard to set boundaries, why an honest “no” is often more respectful than a half-hearted “yes,” and why the fear of rejection keeps leading us to act against our own best interests.
New episode of Men in Crisis: on why a firm “no” is often the first step toward greater self-respect.
